Experience

July 2025 — present

Scientist, Research & Development

TUNISTRONG Technologies Inc., PE, Canada · in collaboration with UPEI

Analytical support for process development projects, and research into the extraction of nanocrystalline cellulose and proteins from tunicates for value-added applications. Method development, characterisation, SOPs, QC and reporting against project objectives.

July 2024 — June 2025

Postdoctoral Researcher

University of Prince Edward Island · with the Atlantic Veterinary College, Atlantic Fisheries College and local farming companies

Cryopreservation of living cells and tissues: designing and testing novel cryoprotectants, running viability assays, and translating results into protocols partners could actually use.

2019 — 2024

PhD Researcher, Molecular and Macromolecular Sciences

University of Prince Edward Island

Biomaterials and drug delivery — peptide synthesis (SPPS), RAFT polymerisation, self-assembly, encapsulation and in vitro evaluation. Developed a novel self-assembling peptide with immunomodulatory activity.

Research and teaching roles

Organic chemistry and cell biology

Eight-plus years of hands-on laboratory experience across synthesis, analysis and cell biology, including lab demonstration and student supervision.

Teaching & Mentoring

I've supervised undergraduate and graduate students and technical staff through synthesis, characterisation and cell-culture work — including the part that matters most: teaching people to write down what they did well enough that someone else can repeat it.

Lab demonstrator, organic chemistry & cell biology
Student and technician onboarding, method training
Scientific writing and proposal review
